Zarubezhneft supported "5Z Culture" implementation in Russia

As part of the All-Russian Labor Protection Week in Moscow, the official Russian launch of the 5Z concept - an international project to create safe and sustainable organizations, focused on the Vision Zero concept of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals until the year 2030. Since 2018, Zarubezhneft has been an official member of the Vision Zero International Council and in 2020 was the first in Russia to implement the 5Z Culture pilot project.

"5Z Culture" tool promotes awareness raising, improvement of safe behavior and responsibility in the organization, makes it possible to assess and benchmark 5 areas: production safety (accidents), physical and mental health (employee morbidity), environmental protection (waste reduction), equal working conditions (inequality), the level of personnel awareness (ignorance). Based on the results of the assessment of companies and the processing of the results, problem areas are highlighted and recommendations for improvement are generated in each area. Companies have the opportunity to get recommendations from international experts, as well as compare the results obtained with other companies around the world.

“Russia is the first country in which we officially launch this concept, and I am glad that the number of companies that care about people and the planet is growing here. However, the fact of joining the concept is only the tip of the iceberg, and we all still have a considerable scope of work to achieve “goal zero,” - summed up the Vision Zero Ambassador, President of the International ORP Foundation Hans-Horst Konkolewski.

Elena Kompasenko, Head of the HSE Department of Zarubezhneft, shared her experience of the company's efficient transition to a new concept. “It is important to note that the efficient implementation of 5Z tools begins with the correct self-assessment of the enterprise, therefore, first of all, we also honestly assessed ourselves,” - said the speaker, - “In addition, the transition will take place only on the condition that the head of the enterprise fully understands the importance of this process. In this sense, our company is very lucky."

Since 2021, the 5Z Culture tool has been implemented in all subsidiaries of Zarubezhneft to obtain information about the level of Safety Culture and development zones, followed by the generation of recommendations for improvement in the areas under consideration.
