In the Russian Federation, Zarubezhneft subsidiaries carry out geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the Nenets (NAA), Yamalo-Nenets (YaNAA) and Khanty-Mansiysk (KhMAA-Yugra) Autonomous Areas, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg and Tyumen regions.
The largest Russian producing asset is the joint Russian-Vietnamese company RUSVIETPETRO (RVP), which conducts follow-p exploration and development of 14 fields located in the central part of the Central Khoreyver uplift of the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province in the NAA. Since 2014, RUSVIETPERO has been holding the oil production level of over 3 million tons per year, which is a record for the oil and gas industry. Since its establishment in 2008, RUSVIETPETRO has produced over 34 million tons of oil.
Since 2016, the company, together with VNIIneft, has been conducting intensive research and development in the area of new methods of enhanced oil recovery (EOR), such as gas and thermogas EOR, surfactant-polymer treatment, EOR, aimed at reducing the hydrophobicity of carbonate reservoirs, searching for new chemicals for carrying out repair and insulation works and treatments of bottom-hole formation zones with acid compositions. Since 2019, the company has been carrying out pilot work on testing new surfactants, acid-proppant hydraulic fracturing, pumping new flow-diverting technologies based on polymer-alkaline compositions at the injection well stock, the use of large-volume insulating rims.
ZARUBEZHNEFT-dobycha Kharyaga (ZNDKh), having assumed the functions of the operator of the Kharyaga PSA in 2016, has formed its own successful approach to project management in a fairly short period of time. ZNDKh keeps the production plateau at the Kharyaga field at a level of over 1.5 million tons of oil per year, introducing efficient methods of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and technologies that have been repeatedly replicated to other subsidiaries of Zarubezhneft.
In 2021, the Severo-Karasevskoye OGE, which is developing the Lutseyakhskoye oil field (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area), was transferred under the management of ZARUBEZHNEFT-dobycha Kharyaga. It is planned to put the field into commercial operation in 2025.
RVP and ZNDKh make a significant economic contribution to the development of the Nenets Autonomous Area, implement their own biodiversity conservation programs and social projects.
In 2015, in order to improve the efficiency of the production and economic activities of the Samara group of enterprises, a new subsidiary, ZARUBEZHNEFT-dobycha Samara (ZNDS), was created, endowed with the functions of a management company. The oil-producing assets of Ulyanovskneftegaz, Orengburgnefteotdacha and UNGP were transferred under its control.
ZNDS specializes in the development of complex reserves, small fields and assets with an disbalanced system, and is also a testing ground for new technologies in production and development.
Orenburgnefteotdacha is engaged in prospecting, exploration and production at three licensed areas located in the Orenburg Region. In 2022, two solar power plants were launched at the Pashkinskoye and Kirsanovskoye fields of Orenburgnefteotdacha. This is the largest alternative energy project in Russia implemented without state support.
Ulyanovskneftegaz carries out prospecting, exploration and production at five licensed areas located in the Ulyanovsk region.
In 2020, Zarubezhneft acquired a stake in UNGP, which owns three licensed areas in the south of the Orenburg Region. The fields were put into production.
ZN Sever is the «youngest» enterprise of Zarubezhneft in the Upstream segment in the Russian Federation. Created on the basis of an asset acquired in 2020, which includes four licensed subsoil plots in the NAA for geological study, exploration and production of hydrocarbons. Carries out operations for the transportation, production of oil at the Musyurshorskoye and Lydushorskoye fields.
In 2020, Zarubezhneft signed an agreement with Gazprom Neft to establish a joint venture to search for, explore and produce hard-to-recover oil reserves in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra and develop efficient technologies for their development. The portfolio of assets of JV GPN-Salym includes licensed areas Salymsky-3 and Salymsky-5. In 2024-2025, construction and long-term testing of two exploratory wells is planned at the Salymsky-5 block.
